We Need Answers

In 2007 Mark Watson (“Nervous” – The Scotsman), Tim Key (“Awkward” – The List) and Alex Horne (“Fragile” – Sunday Times) took the Edinburgh Festival by surprise and storm when they unleashed this divvy quiz on an unsuspecting midnight audience.

The premise is simple. All the questions are provided by the public through the fantastic text service AQA 63336. Mark hosts, Alex geeks and Tim asks the questions. Two comics face off each night with the winner taking £100 and going through to the next round.

After four rounds and fourteen bouts of competition in which the likes of Frank Skinner, Simon Amstell, Lucy Porter, Brendon Burns, Arthur Smith, David O’Doherty, Andy Zaltzman and Daniel Kitson all fell, the show moved from its home in the Pleasance Queen Dome into a much larger venue fit for such a grand occasion (yes, just like Wembley and the FA Cup). And so, in front of 300 fanatical supporters brandishing banners and singing songs, Josie Long and Paul Sinha battled out in a two and a half hour epic with Dr Sinha eventually emerging victorious and winning the terrific overall prize – a mobility scooter.

This year, the smash hit divvy Festival Challenge Cup returns with Mark, Tim and Alex challenging another mighty herd of fringe heroes to answer more questions texted in by the public to AQA 63336 in a bid to snatch Paul Sinha’s mighty crown. It’s late night stupid fun.
